Lively and interactive EXPERIENCE

Welcome to Old Towne Orange Experience

Your “Photo Walk – Orange” EXPERIENCE portrait is done here!

Explore with Julie the vibrant commercial district and quiet back alleys of this quaint and historic town in Orange County, which is also a popular movie location. Orange Plaza at The Circle of Orange, site of the famous annual Chapman University Undie Run, is our meeting and ending location. A brief review of how our cameras work kicks off the event and Julie will answer photography “how to” questions.

Beginning by the fountain at the Circle in Old Towne Orange, where several popular movies were filmed, historic buildings and sites will be the background for our lively and interactive experience. Along the way you will learn tips and tricks for creating amazing images with your camera. Learn to understand light, experiment with macro, motion, architecture and people photography.

The best part of this experience is that I will photograph you during this experience so you will have lasting memories of your time in the O.C. We’ll end at a favorite spot for a snack and beverage, discuss what we learned and relive our best shots.

Julie now offers EXPERIENCES in Orange County!

Local hosts design and lead excursions or other activities through AirBnB. Hosts give guests unique access into places and communities in their city. We offer both immersions and one day experiences. One day experiences can last just a couple of hours. All experiences can range from workshops to long treks, and are available for various skill levels and interests.

We will meet on three Thursday evenings, 11/17, 12/1 and finish in the SCC computer lab on 12/8/2016.

Beginning in February 2017

EXPANDED Introduction to Digital Photography happens at Santiago Canyon College/Community Services

This course now includes creativity exercises, night photography magic, and a Saturday session on campus. Along with the old standby Basic Digital Cameras, there are two wildlife sessions. A favorite location is Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in Silverado Canyon and a new excursion to San Joaquin Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine. We will be introducing Lightroom and Photoshop and offering an Open Lab to continue your work with a guide.

You’ve been asking for it and it is here!

An advanced beginner/intermediate photography class. You will be challenged in the Digital Photography Intensive on two Sunday afternoons in April. We help you learn the custom functions of your camera  to help you decide if you want to use them or not.

You don’t have to be a senior citizen to participate in Digital Photography classes hosted by the Tustin Parks and Recreation Department at the Tustin Area Senior Center. Students can sign up for these afternoon classes at TASC.

Don’t forget – we are enjoying great success with virtual sessions, too. Can’t get away from the office? Can’t fit classes into your busy schedule? Use this link to book your private tutoring lessons with Julie at TakeLessons.com

Virtual Classes in Digital Photography To the Rescue

Digital photography virtual classes…

Have you ever wanted some private photography tutoring, but couldn’t spare the time in your busy schedule to travel to the instructor, have the lesson, then travel to your next destination? Do you wish you could just book a 30-minute session to ask some very specific questions? Do you want quick answers and don’t want to spend time in a semester-long photography class? I think you will find virtual classes a real boon to your busy lifestyle.

In the same town, in the same state, around the globe…Technology to the rescue!

We have been working with Skype, Google Hangouts, and TakeLessons.com Classroom to conduct our virtual classes in digital photography for some time now. The process is getting better and better and is really a lot of fun. It is cost-effective for the students and for the teacher, too. Being able to share the computer screen is essential and these online programs are easy to use.

The virtual environment is quite easy to create. You just need a computer with a built-in camera and microphone (or you can make those purchases separately…buy, why would you?) or an iPad/tablet, or even an iPhone/cell phone.

I will help you design the photography training that you are looking for and deliver just what you need at a convenient time in your schedule.

Are you in Orange County? Here’s the latest Digital Photography Class Schedule with local classes from October 2016 through April 2017.

Fireworks Spectacular with fusion photography

This hybrid and fusion photography of the Disneyland fireworks spectacular
eProduct

is a set of still photos morphed into a video and set to music. The music is royalty-free, which means I purchased the rights to use it in this manner. Premium Beat is my source for music. Disneyland is my source for fireworks throughout most of the year.

Slow shutter speeds (e.g., 1/10 sec) allow the shutter to stay open long enough to capture the fireworks light trails.

Want to learn more about this technique? Join us on a photography field session to set up your tripod and do this yourself!
