JDP Wins Thumbtack Best of 2015

Thumbtack Best Pro of 2015 won by JDP Photography for

professional photography on Thumbtack

This is based on the number of positive reviews from Thumbtack clients. Other (outside Thumbtack) clients gave reviews, too. We are honored to be a recognized highly-rated pro.

This year we have worked on small product photography, actor and model headshot and portfolios, corporate assignments that included group and single environmental portraits, individual portraits on a white background for extraction, and in-studio social media images for business promotion. Not to mention creating images for stock and promotional purposes and virtual tours for the Google Street View Trusted program.

We want to earn your 5-star review, too!

We are enjoying the epic year we predicted in our January video. I love it when a plan comes together!

Video, stock, acting portrait Testimonial

“Julie has done my headshot the last two times I needed one. I use them for auditions and publication and I always get compliments. She was happy to take a number of shots and it’s always hard to choose because so many of them are so good. She was always well prepared and on time. Julie and I have worked together on stock photography as well as video and she has always been the ultimate professional. I’ve also taken photography classes from Julie and that has been very rewarding in learning more about my camera and the art of photography. I will definitely have her take my next headshot and I look forward to working with her on other projects as well.”

About WomanSage

The mission of WomanSage is to provide opportunities, experience and education through diverse programs that enhance and empower all women – their families, careers and communities.

Our Values: Welcoming, Encouraging, Collaborative, Forward-Thinking, and Community-Minded.

Inspire. Connect. Achieve.

WomanSage is a non-profit organization of women, coming together to support women who are facing serious life challenges with no support. Through the monthly Salons and other fundraising events, women can enjoy the camaraderie of other women, while supporting the WomanSage Cares Philanthropies

The WomanSage Cares philanthropies help women in need to get back on their feet as contributing members of the community. Often referred to as “forgotten” women, these women fall through the cracks. Many are just a step away from welfare, struggling to make ends meet. Others are dealing with serious family situations or are caught in a 24/7 care cycle for an elderly or sick relative, with no support structure and no relief.

The goal of WomanSage is to help as many “forgotten” women as possible to reclaim their lives. In fact, several WomanSage Cares recipients have gone on to become thriving sustaining members of WomanSage. It is this unique circle of engagement that distinguishes WomanSage from other charity groups.

At the heart of WomanSage is the monthly Salon. WomanSage Salons bring together the finest of dining experiences, along with a roster of fascinating guest speakers, to provide a richly rewarding evening and opportunity for women to meet other women and forge lasting friendships. The revenue that flows in from the Salons as well as donations and sponsorships help fund the philanthropies: Transition Makeover and WomanSage Cares.

If you are not already a “Sager” perhaps now is the time to join. Jane Glenn Haas, founder of WomanSage, used to tell women, “This is your time.” Her dream was to create a thriving, lively group of women, to gather together and have the time of their lives, while supporting other women. Maybe this is your time.

Portrait for Mother’s Day

Portrait for Mother's Day

Lisa and Michael

This portrait of Lisa and Michael was a gift for their mother and grandmother for Mother’s Day this month. They wanted better quality than their own point and shoot camera skills could deliver. They even wanted better quality than Target, Wal-Mart and Sears. We are delighted that they chose JDP Photography to create this lasting gift.

We focused on natural expressions and simple posing to create an image that Mom will treasure forever!

Executive portraits go fun and sassy

Corporate casual executive portraits of John Raymont, Kurion, Inc.

Corporate casual executive portrait

When I was asked to create a fun and sassy photograph of one of my clients, a corporate executive, I was really excited. As my style of corporate headshots and executive portraits is pretty traditional, I relish the opportunity to deliver something new, fresh and current.

While the studio session wasn’t exactly like a high-key model shoot, John Raymont, Founder and President of Kurion, Inc., delivered very natural fun and sassy “looks” for this round of executive portraits. It was hard selecting the best single image. His expressions conveyed different messages and could be used to tell a different story based on usage of the photograph.

High-key white backgrounds are very popular these days. It makes the subject stand out from the background and also makes it easy to crop the subject out and place on other backgrounds. It eliminates distractions around and behind the subject and is the best solution for social media profile pictures.

At all of our studio sessions, we capture tethered – camera connected to the computer. The images download as we are working and you are able to select your favorite image(s) during your portrait session. Still can’t make up your mind? Need a second opinion? We can also upload to an online site for your convenience.
