Exercise Video Fundraiser for Tustin Area Senior Center

As part of our community involvement and because I take Zumba classes from Brooke at the Tustin Area Senior Center, JDP Photography recorded and edited this Basic/Intermediate Chair Exercise class. You can watch the intro here, but to enjoy the entire experience, you can contact the Tustin Area Senior Center at 714.573.3340 and request your own copy of the DVD.

Brooke Leys-Campeau shares her news with us:

“We made a dvd of my Basic Chair Exercise class and are selling them as a fundraiser for the Tustin Area Senior Center Fund. The requested donation is $10 for the full-length (60 minute) workout. If you’d like to see a couple of clips you can visit my blog: Chair Exercise Video. A big thank you goes to Julie Diebolt Price Photography for filming and editing the video and to Mickey Heine who participated in the filming, donated the dvds, and took the time to burn all of them.  Thanks also goes to Dee for starring in the video and donating dvds as well. And finally thanks to Judy and Michael for also participating in the filming. Because everyone donated their time and resources, every penny raised goes directly to the TASC fund 🙂 Copies are available through the Senior Center or me.”

Happy exercising!

Malone Navy Retirement Event Aboard USS Iowa

Malone Navy Retirement on the USS IowaOn a recent Sunday Rich Malone retired after 36 years of honorable service from the U.S. Navy. He was joined by close friends and family aboard the USS Iowa, docked in San Pedro Harbor with views of the Vincent Thomas Bridge. The location was a fitting place for such a special event and the weather was spectacular with a breathtaking sunset.

Malone Navy Retirement aboard USS Iowa family portraitRich celebrated his navy retirement event with his wife, Paula, and their son, Connor.  We captured a memorable family portrait overlooking the harbor.

Malone Navy Retirement event cakeOf course, the cake was expertly decorated and was “to die for” delicious!

Just a little bit about the event venue – In 2011 Iowa was donated to the Los Angeles-based non-profit Pacific Battleship Center and was permanently moved to Berth 87 at the Port of Los Angeles in the summer of 2012, where she was opened to the public to serve as a museum and memorial to battleships. They are open to the public and offer guided tours of the ship.

In the last several months I’ve heard the word “loyalty” used in discussions with my returning clients. The Malone’s have been loyal clients for many years and we are all proud to tell our story. I photographed Rich and Paula’s engagement session (yes, this was many years ago when I was building my wedding photography business), I photographed their wedding, then created Paula’s pregnancy portraits, and now another milestone in their lives, Rich’s Navy retirement.

In the first year of operation, 63 women were served. Since 1993, more than 40,000 men, women and teens have been given a helping hand in their efforts to overcome profound barriers in their quest to become economically self-sufficient. Today WHW (Women Helping Women/Men2Work) provides comprehensive employment support services for all disadvantaged men, women and teens, empowering them to achieve economic self sufficiency through employment success. What started as two survivors collecting clothes in their trunk for women in various shelters has turned into a full array of employment readiness services to support low-income job seekers in their journey to break the cycle of poverty and make a positive impact on generations to come.
